Fringe is American scientific, thriller and drama TV series, broadcasted by Fox. The producers of Lost, J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman created the show. The pilot episode is broadcasted on September 9, 2008 in Fox network. The show was part of the channel`s initiative “remote-free TV” with less commercials and more time devoted to the length of the episode. After the successful start of the show, the length of the first season is extended to 22 episodes. Later, the episodes are cut to 20 with the first season finale broadcasted on May 12 2009. Season 2 started on September 18, 2009.

The show follows a team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation`s division “Fringe”, which team deals with strange scientific fringe cases, started to occur recently.

Fringe show follows the story of FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham and the Bishops family – the mad and far beyond intelligent scientist Walter and his son, Peter – a MTI dropout with I.Q. of 191. They are part of the team, which investigates series of strange cases concerning the so called fringe science. These cases are all part of something bigger; the cases are connected with the “Pattern” – series of events whose origin is unknown. These three characters are responsible for investigating the cases and finding their origin. The multinational corporation “Massive Dynamics” strengthens the mysteriousness of the series. The company is a global leader in technology and drug innovation. The company was founded by Walter`s ex-partner and scientist William Bell. The company occurs to be related to many of the “Pattern” cases. The enemy appears to be a biological terrorist organization called ZFT (it is a German abbreviation, which translated in English means Destruction through advanced technology), which occurs to be behind many of the accidents.

Walter Bishop and William Bell worked together in the 60s and 70s. They designed the drug called Cortexiphan, which was tested by injection in children. Later in the show, one of the injected children occurs to be Olivia Dunham. In fact, Olivia appears to be far more related to the “Pattern” than expected.

The mysterious part of the show has another component – the Observers. They are bold middle-aged men who appear from nothing and “observe” the happening of the Fringe cases. They appear to be not from our world, but so far, this is only implied.

The main characters of the show – Olivia, Peter and Walter develop more than work relationship; their connection evolves to something, which is close to a family relationship. Peter falls in love with Olivia, which is very attached to him as well. They both play something like parents to Walter, who is partly mad and acts as a child sometimes.
