The cold season is here. People can be heard coughing and sneezing everywhere you go. Now you have caught that cold. What is the best way for you to get through that cold as quick and painlessly as you can? Some good old home remedies will help. Here are some home remedies that have been proven to work:
Chicken noodle soup has been offered to people with colds for years. This is probably because it actually works. By drinking the warm chicken broth you are bringing the fighting blood cells up to the surface of your throat to help fight off a throat irritation or illness. Also, by breathing in the steam as you are drinking the warm broth, you are helping your sinuses.
There’s nothing like a warm bath to help you feel better when you have a cold. Once again; the steam will help with your sinuses and the warm relaxing bath will do a world of wonders on your achy muscles. Try to take a long bath and just relax in it when you have a cold. As it gets cooling down, add some more hot water to keep it warm. Bring a book in the bath with you. You will feel much better after a nice warm bath.
Warm salt water will really help if you have a sore throat. You take a glass of warm water and add a bit of table salt to the water, and then you gargle with it. This is not pleasant tasting at all, but it will help to alleviate some of the pain of your sore throat.
Black tea on your eyes will help with irritated eyes if you have a cold. You warm op the tea bags in some water and use cotton balls, dip them in the tea and set the cotton balls on your eyes. You won’t want to use each cotton ball more than once, this can actually spread infection.
Drink a lot of water and Gatorade when you have a cold. The water will keep you hydrated; the Gatorade will help to replace your Electrolytes that have been lost due to a fever. It’s always a good idea to drink plenty of water, but even more so when you have a cold.
