Who is the best, Kobe Bryant or LeBron James? This is a topic of verbal duel that could go on till the doomsday. Many are of the opinion that Kobe is Michael Jordan in today’s basketball. Obviously, Kobe, playingforLos Angeles Lakers, has the skill and talent what it takes to be a legend in NBA and he has already proved that numerous times. What makes Kobe the best player around is that after every appearance and every game, he just improves his performance.
LeBron, playing for Miami Heat, of course, is an amazing player. Many say that he is a player that could alter the way in which basketball is played. LeBron makes the spectators of the game feel that the court a smaller place than it really is. He is a versatile player and can practically play in any position that he is appointed.
Many are of the opinion that currently Kobe is better than LeBron in many ways. But most of them feel that LeBron will overtake Kobe in the course of time. Both the players have their own strengths and weaknesses.
When it comes to offence, Kobe is the best active player on the planet. Who can forget 81 points against to Toronto Raptors? His footwork and body control are unmatched by LeBron. And he can score from a range around 27 feet. Kobe also does much better than LeBron when it comes to leadership. He is a good defender and is hard to penetrate. The authorities can not be wrong by choosing him 8 times in NBA All-Defensive First Team.
LeBron is highly athletic and is an all rounder in all spheres of the game. First of all, his vision of court is amazing for a 6”8 SF and that talent allows him to play even as PG. Good at rebounds and will do anything fair to end up his opponents scoring efforts in vain. LeBron proved himself to be a great defender in many games, almost all games.
Now, if we talk about the weaknesses, then Kobe has lost his athletic character in the long run. LeBron’s shooting from midrange has to improve and is not good at clutching the ball. LeBron has to learn much more when it comes to leading a basketball team and has not realized his potential completely.
Kobe will always remain a hero of Los Angeles Lakers as Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’neal, George Mikan, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and James Worthy. But, how about LeBron? He has already missed the chance of being legend of Cleveland Cavaliers and after his controversial leaving for Heat, it really seems impossible for him being an icon of any team.
Overall, 5 times NBA champion Kobe is surely better but LeBron has what it takes to be a legend like him. I do not see too much difference between their talents, but it is certain that LeBron has to mature mentally. This season will be a great test for him, we will see if he can surpass Kobe ( L.A. Lakers) with teammates Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
