Top Ten Holiday Songs

(These are not necessarily in order.)

1. Last Christmas by Wham. Every year when this song comes on the radio, I can’t get it out of my head, and I wind up singing it well through my birthday which is sometime in February.

2. Adeste Fidelis (Oh Come All Ye Faithful). I love the melody and the feel to this song.

3. Harry The Shamash Candle. I do not know who wrote this. All I know is it’s to the tune of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and goes like this…

Harry the Shamash Candle

Had a very shiny light

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it’s bright

All of the other candles

Used to laugh and call him names

They wouldn’t let poor Harry

Play any Hanukkah games.

Then one foggy Hanukkah eve

Moses came to say

Harry with your light so bright

Won’t you be my Shamash tonight.

All of the other candles

Laughed and shouted out with glee

Harry the Shamash Candle

You’ll go down in history.

By-the-way the shamash candle is the 9th candle on the menorah.

4. Holly Jolly Christmasthe Burl Ives version. I don’t like any other version of this song. If Burl Ives doesn’t sing it, I don’t want to hear it.

5. The Chanukkah Song (the original) by Adam Sandler Now at karaoke, Jews have something to sing for the holidays. I love this song!

6. Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano. This was one of the first songs in Spanish that I ever learned. I love to sing it and like Last Christmas by Wham it gets sung even after Christmas.

7. The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) by Alvin and the Chipmunks. “Me, I want a Hula Hoop.” A Christmas favorite for me.

8. I Farted on Santa’s Lap by the Little Stinker. My friend in Australia sent me this song via email one Christmas and I was hysterical laughing for days afterwards.

9. Santa Claus is Coming To Town-any version. Well, I do sing this song but I changed the lyrics when my dog was alive to ” Santa Paws is coming to town”…and well..now they made a movie about Santa Paws….

10. Ave Maria any version. This is still one of the most beautiful songs in the world to me.
