Three Types of Large Screens
Although there are a seemingly infinite number makes and models of TVs, there are ultimately only three main types to choose from. There is plasma, LCD and CRT.

  • Plasma TVs are great because of their high level of definition, sleek design, wide angle capabilities and picture quality. They are also able to be mounted on most walls which can be beneficial when you are dealing with a limited amount of space. Also many have the ability to be hooked up with a computer which is useful for gamers. The main downside of plasma screens is that they are typically rather expensive, though their price has dropped considerably within the past few years.

  • LCD or (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs are beneficial because of their slim design, lifelike image quality and power efficiency (meaning they require less energy to run as opposed to plasma TVs). Another great thing about them is that their price is continually falling the longer they are on the market. The cons of LCDs is that they have an overall poorer image quality and don’t look as clear in dim lighting.

  • CRT or (Cathode Ray Tube) TVs are good because of their contrast, color and long life expectancy. They are also extremely easy to set up and require very little maintenance throughout the life of the product. The main drawback for most people when it comes to CRTs is that they are bulky and don’t have the sleek appeal of newer plasma and LCD TVs. Also the largest size they come in is 38 inches diagonally which is smaller than other types.
