Frova – an Effective Medicine For Migraine

FROVA or frovatriptan succinate is used to treat people suffering from migraine.  Migraine is a neurological syndrome.  Symptoms of migraine include severe head ache, nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.  Nearly 21 million people suffer from migraine in the USA alone.  

FROVA is a prescription medicine approved by FDA.  Many people suffering from migraine have found relief after using this drug.  In some cases it has provided partial relief.  

FROVA or frovatriptan succinate is chemically designated as R-(+) 3-methylamino-6-carboxamido-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole monosuccinate monohydrate.  It is an off white powder which is soluble in water.  Each tablet of FROVA contains 3.91 mg of frovatriptan succinate.  

One tablet of FROVA should be taken after the migraine attack.  You should lie down in a dark, quite room after taking FROVA.  Relief will be quicker this way.  If the head ache persists, it is better to consult the doctor.  More than 3 tablets should not be consumed in a 24 hour period.  Research studies have indicated that early migraine treatment with FROVA are more likely to provide relief from pain than later treatment.  It is always better to follow doctor’s prescription.  

Some of the side effects observed after taking FROVA are indigestion, heart burn, dry mouth, redness of the face, neck and arms, drowsiness, tiredness, joints pain and chest pain.  People suffering from heart related ailments, very high blood pressure or basilar migraine should never use FROVA.  People who are allergic to frovatriptan should not consume FROVA.  Pregnant women should avoid this drug as this may harm the fetus.  Also mothers who are breast feeding their baby should consult a certified physician before using this drug.  FROVA should not be used by children.  Alcoholic drinks should be strictly avoided to allow the medicine to work effectively. FROVA should be taken as a medication only after consulting a certified physician.  

FROVA should be kept out of reach of children.  It should be stored away from heat and light, in a cool dry place.  Moisture causes the tablet to break down.  Outdated tablets should not be used.
