How to Read Tarot Cards – 02 – The High Priestess

This is an article in a series on how to read the Tarot Cards. This series contains an in depth look at each of the cards’ possible interpretations within a reading in context of their position. I will be using the Celtic Cross spread.

The High Priestess On Her Own

The High Priestess on her own is a card of quiet might. The High Priestess is a woman with complete control of her emotions and her surroundings. Usually accompanied by a crescent moon at her feet, this displays her divinity.

The High Priestess is a card suggesting a person who has a lot of mental control. This person is a deep thinker and well connected with his surroundings. Nature is important in this person’s life.

The High Priestess as the Center suggests the situation is grounded in emotions. There is a serious game at play here, and the receiver has remained calm and focused throughout.

2. The High Priestess as the Obstacle

The High Priestess as the Obstacle suggests there is a lot of strong feelings surrounding the situation. Treading lightly, but still taking action will help overcoming this.

The High Priestess as the Super-Conscious suggests the receiver feels grounded about the situation. She’s not concerned so much about the outcome, because she has a good feeling as to where the situation is going.

4. The High Priestess as the Recent Future

The High Priestess as the Recent Future suggests the receiver can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and the light is actually what is coming. The calm and controlled manner in which she uses for this situation is paying off.

5. The High Priestess as the Subconscious

The High Priestess as the Subconscious suggests the receiver has put a lot of patient thought into the situation. She’s dealt with this well, and is prepared for anything that should come her way in regards to this situation.

6. The High Priestess as the Recent Past

The High Priestess as the Recent Past suggests it was the deliberate and well thought of intent of the receiver which brought her to this situation. This is what she wanted, and was headed here from the start.

The High Priestess as the Receiver suggests the receiver is a person who is completely down to earth, so much so she can keep strict control of her emotions in high tension situations. The receiver is a deliberate thinker, and often loves nature as well.

The High Priestess as the Influence suggests the receiver is being led by emotionally sound people and advice. A great amount of trust can be put in this, because it will aid in the situation.

9. The High Priestess as the Intuition

The High Priestess as the Intuition suggests the receiver has put a lot of thought into the situation, and is confident in it’s outcome. Whether it be the outcome desired or not isn’t clear in this card, but the receiver is prepared for which ever outcome she foresees.

10. The High Priestess as the Outcome

The High Priestess as the Outcome suggests the situation will end on an emotionally quiet note. A sense of peace, happiness, calm – these are all things she can expect.
