First register at www.sittercity.com. This is a great website where sitters in your area put in their qualifications, availability, and other tidbits about themselves. You can go the route of registering as a parent looking to hire someone and sifting through sitters in your area or you can put in a new job request.
When you create a job request, you can specify must-haves for your sitter, such as must be CPR certified. What is great is that sitters can also conduct a background investigation on themselves (through the site) so you can see if they check out on their profile. So once you have put in a request, sitters who are interested will email you. What is great is the email goes to your sitter city account so you don’t have to give out your personal email, phone number or any other pertinent information until you feel comfortable with a sitter.
Set up interviews with prospective sitters. It helps to be honest to say you are looking at many different sitters to see who the best fit is. Then setting up your sitter is standard procedure from this point.. you interview, ask the list of questions you have compiled, ask for references, CHECK references, offer the sitter the job, and trust that your kids are in good hands while you’re away from home.
