Every year, losing weight is part of my New Year resolution I even put it on top of my list. Unfortunately, I never was able to reach my goal and to make matter worst I gained more weight over the years. So, after much pondering and research I realized and found out the reason why I miserably failed in my attempt to lose weight. See if these reasons also apply to you:
1. I set goals that are impossible to achieve.
With all the ads on TV about losing weight I thought that losing 10 pounds in one week is actually achievable but the truth is not only it is misleading but also not good for the health. One to two pounds a week is the healthy way to lose weight.
2. I set-up a diet plan that is hard to follow.
I use to starve myself to death back then but after a week, I start to binge and voila calories intake balloon again so does my waistline. I can’t maintain my diet plan because its impossible to do so in the first place.
So, don’t skip meals in fact you can even eat your snacks. Eating 5-6 times, a day in small proportion raises your metabolism and keeps your energy up the whole day.
3. I never count my calories.
This is one huge mistake I made which I now corrected of course. Over 60 percent who eat underestimate their calorie intake by almost 100% so you thought you’re only taking 1000 calories but in reality its 2000. It’s better to log your food intake everyday to monitor calories. You can do it online or you could write it down by keeping a food journal.
So to just summarize we need to approach losing weight in a realistic way don’t expect to be sexy overnight or you’ll just end up disappointed and demotivated. Lastly, along with diet is exercise, don’t expect to be healthy if you don’t sweat it out.
