Recipe for Chocolate Cookies
Children will enjoy these homemade chocolate cookies. This is really easy and fun recipe for chocolate cookies using a devil’s food cake mix plus a few other ingredients.
1 Box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
1/2 Cup Butter or Margarine
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat the eggs in a small bowl. Mix together butter (or margarine), vanilla and beaten eggs in a large bowl. Add the box of devil’s food cake mix. Mix together until cookie dough forms. If it is too stiff, add a little water. Place bowl in refrigerator for thirty minutes to chill. The dough will be easier to work with.
Shape the dough into balls about one inch in diameter. Place the powdered sugar in a small bowl or pan. Roll the balls of cookie dough in the powdered sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about two inches apart.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for ten to fifteen minutes. Let chocolate cookies cool for ten to twenty minutes after baking.
While your first batch is baking, prepare your next batch using a second ungreased cookie sheet.
If desired, instead of shaping dough into balls, dough may be rolled out on a floured board to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shaped using cookie cutters or knife.
Granulated sugar may be substituted for the powdered sugar. Vegetable oil may be substituted for the butter or margarine.
