Banana Bread Recipe
If you have overly ripened bananas, instead of throwing them away, use them to create this banana bread recipe. This is a fairly easy recipe that takes about thirty minutes to prepare and about an hour to bake in the oven.
1 1/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
3/4 Cups Sugar
1/4 Cups Butter or Margarine
2 Ripe Bananas
1/4 Cup Buttermilk
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/2 Cup Walnuts, Chopped
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 inch x 4 inch or a 9 inch x 5 inch loaf pan using butter or margarine. Mix together the sugar and butter in a large bowl. Beat the egg first in a small bowl, then add the egg and mix well. Mash the bananas and add the bananas, buttermilk and vanilla to the mixture. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt and chopped walnuts. Add this to the banana mixture and blend together. Pour this mixture into the loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for fifty minutes to an hour depending on your oven. Cool for thirty minutes before serving. Store at room temperature or in refrigerator. This banana bread may be frozen for future use.
If you do not like walnuts, chopped pecans may be substituted for the walnuts.
Your kitchen will smell wonderful when you are baking this banana bread recipe. Enjoy this for breakfast or any time of the day as a snack or part of a meal.
