Gulf Oil Spill: Relief Wells Still Not Finished, BP Stalling

Shortly after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sank, the U.S. Coast Guard and BP told the public that the Macondo well would be killed via relief wells (if nothing else worked) by mid August. That time has come and gone.

I was writing a lot about this disaster for the first two months after it happened. I had to stop because it became very difficult to determine exactly what was going on when BP, the Coast Guard and our government just started blatantly lying about things, on a daily basis. The lies have gone so deep that the real truth would probably be indecipherable even if it were placed in front of our faces. That being said, here is what seems to be going on, presently…

At this time, BP is still double talking and side stepping anything to do with completing the relief wells. I do not believe they can complete them, and we are getting the run around. As of today, the latest stunt involves another BOP (blow out preventer) being brought to the site.

Another part of this story…BP is getting away with the lie of the century. There is not nearly as much oil on shores as was expected, since they sank it all to the bottom of the Gulf. Out of sight, out of mind.

Crews try to clean an island covered in oil on the south part of East Bay May 23, 2010. The U.S. government threatened on Sunday to remove BP from efforts to seal a blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico if it doesn't do enough to stop the leak, though it acknowledged only the company and the oil industry have the needed know-how.
