Start now by collecting any notes, emails, letters, etc. that come across your desk with positive statements concerning your work.  Collect all correspondence in which someone has commented on how helpful you have been or how you have encouraged or inspired them.

Create a special email folder and a hard copy folder for anything and everything you collect that shines a positive light on you. Give your file a name that will make you smile simply by looking at it!  Try something like, “MY WARM FUZZIES” file!

When you are tempted to feel down about yourself because you have been given a poor work performance, called on the carpet, over looked for a promotion, or let go, etc., pull out your Warm Fuzzies file and begin reading.

If you know  you have really messed up, do not spend time beating yourself up or reminding yourself how stupid your mistake was, but instead, pull out the file!  Your Warm Fuzzies file will remind you that you are human, and therefore a capable of doing both that which is praise worthy and that which is not!  You will find a bit of cheer in reading these kind remarks by remembering how well you have done in the past and will continue to do in the future.

Your spirit will be revived, your energy renewed, and through the written words of others, will be reminded of the important part you play both at work and in life in general.  And, as a positive by-product of your difficult encounter, you might even find yourself giving thought to taking a course or workshop to try strengthening your weaker areas a bit more.

YOUR WARM FUZZIES FILE MAY BE JUST WHAT YOU NEED FOR A RENEWED LEASE ON LIFE AS YOU ARE REMINDED OF WHO YOU “REALLY” ARE!
