Well, Brett Favre has officially “unretired” for the 3rd time in his career, with a guarantee that he will be retiring after this season, his 20th season in the National Football League.
“I could make a case for both playing, not playing,” Favre said. “This is a very good football team, the chances here are much greater than other places. From that standpoint, it was always going to be easier [to return].”
I beg to differ. With one simple throw that prevented the Minnesota Vikings to make the Super Bowl (thrown by yours truly, Brett Favre), the Vikings had an immense amount of success last year.
Is Favre coming back an addition to the Vikings? Of course. He’s a great player that has had a great career. DO I think that he will succeed? I will bank on him doing poorly on his surgically repaired ankle that hasn’t fully healed yet, according to Favre.
However, I (as almost everybody else) is sick of the whole Favre saga. It drives America crazy, and I personally believe tarnishes the game of football. It’s like a ping pong game for Favre, going back and forth and flip flopping decisions all the time. I’m sick of it, but he such an elite player that you are almost forced to forgive him. I’m starting to not become a fan of Brett Favre, but I guess there’s nothing you can do. It’s his decision to come back or stay retired, so what can you do?
