I recently had a nagging cough and sore throat. My sister sent me a recipe she uses for a natural cough suppressant. I seriously didn’t think it would work, but since she told me how great it worked for her I decided to give it a try. I mixed it up, took a dose and to my surprise, found out that it really DOES work! It suppressed my cough and soothed my throat without the over the counter drug side effects. It is an excellant home remedy for cough and sore throat.
Wash out a small jar with soap and hot water, then dry it out with a paper towel. I used a small jam jar that I no longer needed. You could also use any small container with a tight fitting lid.
Add the following ingredients to the jar:
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 TB honey
1 TB apple cider vinegar
2 TB water
Place lid on jar and tighten. Shake it until all the ingredients are mixed together thoroughly.
Take 3 tsp of this Natural Cough Suppressant Syrup as needed for cough and/or irritated sore throat. Keep any unused portion in the refrigerater.
I used this syrup during the day and night with great results. It even worked at night and kept me from losing sleep. When I was awakened by coughing, I would take a dose and go back to sleep. It also helps to use extra pillows at night and keep your head more elevated. I was so excited about this recipe that I have been telling everyone I know about it.
