Facebook Live is all about stuff happening at Facebook Head quarters. The channel is about everything that happens there from fun activities to celebrity visits. The video content will have some tie-in with how people are using Facebook, or products and features. The services has been started from Thursday with an appearance by America Ferrera star of Ugly Betty as she talks about her new movie The Dry Land.
In an official announcement, Facebook said that it will use the facebook live for announcements, press events, live chats with Facebook engineers and live streaming of its developer conference, F8. Facebook real-time live feed technology will also work as video conferencing tool.
It will be interesting to see how facebook goes about promoting the feature. That would give the site an opportunity to aggregate some huge audiences around live video, though it remains to be seen if that’s in the cards or if this is more of a PR move to make the company feel more personable. It will exist as an app that can be added to any Facebook Page, where it can stream live on multiple Pages simultaneously, a feature that allows Page operators (often businesses, brands and other commercially-minded users) to take advantage of the new channel to attract more fans.
