Fiesta Del Sol – San Diego is Packed With Events For Children of All Ages.

The largest San Diego Latino party is just around the corner.  Over 75,000 fiesta goers, entertainers, vendors, and a vast array of artists from all around the Latino globe are expected.  A stretch of historic Barrio Logan will be transformed into a gigantic outdoor restaurant with live performances, and a children’s activity zone.  The 5th Annual Fiesta del Sol will embark on its two day adventure this August 14th at 11am.  So mark your calendar in bright orange, and prepare to attend your next family event.

The event is organized by Justice Overcoming Boundaries (JOB), a non-profit organization.  The 5th Annual Fiesta del Sol is a festival celebrating the history, and diverse cultures of San Diego.  It is an alcohol and tobacco free social occasion that is comprised of two stages, an arts and culture pavilion, a children’s village, a youth zone, and a health and wellness area for all ages.  Also, a half pipe will be set up.  Professional Bmxers will be “catching air,” and “table topping” 15 to 20 feet up for the passerby to awe at.

“I’ve been going the last three years to Fiesta del Sol, and I’ve never been disappointed, I can basically sit there and watch the Bmxers launch into the air, with a carne asada taco in one hand, an horchata in the other, and reggae playing in the background.  Who wouldn’t like to spend a weekend like that?” said Robert Mitchell a property manager from La Jolla.

Over 30 local known artists ranging from traditional music to soul, reggae, and rock will be jamming out.  There will be hand made crafts for sale.  The popular children’s village will have face painting, hands-on take home projects, and games for the little ones to enjoy with their parents.  A local charter school, King-Chavez Academy of Excellence, will be there to host one of the many activities.

When asked what she liked most about the annual festival, Carolina Garcia, a long time resident of Logan Heights, responded, “I think it’s great.  I mean it’s nice to see people from all over come to the neighborhood.  I remember, that not long ago, people wouldn’t even step foot here, unless it was for fresh tortillas, or to eat at Las Cuatro Milpas.  Last year, I even talked to a lady from San Francisco.”  Mrs. Garcia works as a nurse, and looks forward to taking her two daughters to the event this year.

All are welcomed.  So come out to Barrio Logan, and bask in the warmth of a wide variety of Latino foods, music, and family events.  The festival is a 2 day event that will be held on August 14th and 15th between 11am and 7pm.  The location will stretch across Historic Logan Ave between 26th and Evans.  It is a free event.  For anymore questions visit
