Lonesome Dove Location

Lonesome Dove Western Bistro is located in the Fort Worth Stockyard area at 2406 N. Main Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76164 and was opened by Chef Tim Love in 2000.  Chef Love has been on a wide variety of television shows.  He has been a guest judge on Top Chef and was the winner of Iron Chef America.

Entering Lonesome Dove, you are treated to a true taste of high class Texas décor.  Nice and cozy, the restaurant features original art with a cowboy theme.  A host is available with a friendly greeting.  The atmosphere is cozy with dim lighting, wood floors, and candles.

Lonesome Dove Menu Review

The menu appears simple, but once you look it you might be surprised at the complexity.  Lonesome Dove is definitely a place to dine for traditional western cuisine like steak and potatoes, but Chef Love has added exotic meats to the mix.  He is currently offering rabbit-rattlesnake sausage, wild boar ribs, ostrich nachos, and elk sausage sliders, just for the appetizer portion of the meal!  I have had the pleasure of sampling the ostrich nachos, and they were excellent.  For the second course, it’s a little more of what you would expect.  Features include summer squash soup, which is a delicious experience.

For your dinner selection, be prepared to choose between exciting dishes that encompass Maine lobster, beef tenderloin, red snapper, duck breast, and amazing New Zealand red deer tenderloin.  What a mouthful!  My personal favorite is the beef tenderloin, served in ounces (a minimum is order is 8 ounces) and priced by the ounce.  Side dishes Citrus Broccolini and White Truffled Mac and Cheese are also incredible.

In addition to dinner, Lonesome Dove is also open for lunch.  When dining at Lonesome Dove during the lunch hour, you have the option of ordering from the lunch or dinner menu.  The lunch menu includes entrees and sandwiches more suited to lunchtime including a buffalo burger and a shaved tenderloin sandwich, both worth trying.  Lonesome Dove features a daily Stockyard Special during lunch, priced at $9.00, which is an absolute steal.

Overall Review of Lonesome Dove

I have dined at Lonesome Dove Western Bistro on multiple occasions and personally met Chef Love, who was very polite.  I give this restaurant a definite 10 out 10 in all ways.

If you are going on a weekend, reservations are recommended as this is a restaurant in demand.  If you are interested in learning more, please visit their website or call them at 817-740-8810.  Lonesome Dove is also available for private parties and catering.
