As I have mentioned in other articles I have written, I love my Kindle. It accompanies me almost everywhere I go, keeping me company in lines at the Supermarket, as I wait for my car to be fixed, I even set it next to me as I feed my daughter late at night.
But now, I must make a decision. Should I stay with the Kindle that has been with me these many months, that has changed my reading habits forever, that is a little awkward looking, but completely functional. Or should I switch to the Kindle 2, with it’s sexier, curvier design, its thinner body, it’s extended battery life, and state of the art text to speech capabilities?
Why do I feel like a 50 year old man who is thinking of trading his wife in for a younger model? Or maybe the better comparison is that the Kindle was my gateway drug, and the Kindle 2 will become my hard core addiction.
I didn’t think it would tempt me, since it doesn’t have a replaceable battery and it doesn’t have expandable memory, but I must admit, I am intrigued by the Kindle 2. In the end, I couldn’t resist. I purchased a Kindle 2 and look forward to its arrival in a few weeks. I’m still not sure if I will keep it. I need to hold it in my hands and see if it can make an impression in my heart like my old friend, the Kindle 1 has.
