Ways to Have a Quick And Easy Dinner

Although there are more healthier options in your frozen foods aisle for healthy frozen dinners, ultimately, making a quick healthy meal at home is the best. You can make a delicious yet quick, good-for-you dinner in under 30 minutes.

Here are some ideas and some foods that you should keep on hand.

Healthy choice #1-

Quick Wrap

Tortillas come in a wide variety of flavors. Whole grain tortillas are the easiest and most versatile to use.

Take a whole grain tortilla, add some baby spinach and leftover chicken, a splash of balsamic vinegar or low-calorie salad dressing and wrap up. You have a tasty wrap that is quick and delicious.

Heated wrap

This wrap can be microwaved or grilled on a indoor grill. Take a tortilla and top in with leftover chicken or steak. Add green vegetables like broccoli or spinach, a handful of extra sharp cheddar and fold over. (it will look like 1/2 a circle) Grill or microwave. Yum! This is good and the contents will be hot.

Stir fry

Stir fry dinners are quick because the vegetables are only being heated and allowed to stay crispy. Keeping pre-cut vegetables in your fridge will make this an easy dinner to make. If you need the meat, strips of lean beef, pork or chicken can be put in your fry pan first and stirred quickly in 1 tablespoon olive oil or canola oil.

Add fresh vegetables, like red onions, celery, carrot strips, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, asparagus, green beans or mushrooms in any combination. A little chopped garlic and fresh ginger is a good addition. Add 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth and you have a delicious and quick dinner.

Tips-

Wash fresh vegetables after purchasing. Split into portion sizes and freeze or refrigerate. Always have staples like low-sodium chicken broth on hand. It is best to make your own and portion it into small containers and freeze. Low calorie salad dressings are good to have, just watch how much you have at a serving.

Hard cheeses add flavor, calcium and are healthier than softer cheeses. Consider starting a kitchen herb garden. Using fresh herbs gives your home-cooked dinners a burst of flavor.
