Eye makeup can make a dramatic difference in appearance, however, most people aren’t quite sure what products to use, and in what order they should be applied. With powders versus liquids it can become confusing.
The first step when applying eye makeup is to put concealer on under your eyes and on your eyelids. Concealer has a mattifying effect and it will give the eye makeup something to stick too so that it stays in place and it stays on longer. After applying the concealer, the next step is to apply the eyeshadow. It is best to choose more neutral colors like golden colors, khaki greens or brownish purple tones which work well on most people. A powder eyeshadow is easier to apply and will give you a better and lasting result. An easy way to apply eyeshadow is to use a Q-tip and run a thin line of shadow along your eyelash line, from the inner corner or your eye to the outer corner.
The next step is to apply the eyeliner that will really define your eyes and make them pop. I would suggest using a liquid eyeliner that will give you a straighter more precise and dramatic line. Liquid eyeliners can be intimidating for some people as they feel that they won’t be able to draw a straight line. You can always practice applying liquid eyeliner before you begin applying your eye makeup just to get a feel for it. Run a thin line of eyeliner from the inner corner of your eye to the outer. Let the eyeliner dry for a minute and then grab an eyelash curler and hold it in place for around 10 seconds to make sure that the curl holds.
The last step is to apply the mascara. You can use whatever mascara you prefer. Simply run the mascara through your eyelashes holding slightly at the end. Apply a second coat and you are done. Avoid applying more coats as it will make your eyelashes look clumpy.
Once you’ve applied eye makeup a few time you will be able to do it in no time, and you will love the pop it gives to your eyes.
