Hotel Trips

If you ever have won or been given a trip that pays for the hotel, but no airfare included you must look at some key factors before going. Some trips that you have to pay for airfare, but the hotel is free are great, only if the hotel selection has a great variety of the hotel location. Because some hotels have hidden clauses that you can only book your stay on certain days, an up-front deposit that may or may not be refundable when you get there.

Some deposits are not refundable if you have to cancel or change dates, its that fine print that is hidden away with all the boring stuff that you don’t want to read. Some deposits are only good towards the dining at the hotel or even the activities they have there. The good hotels will give you your money back in cash currency of your state or their country, and if you pay with a credit card you may have to wait 3-14 days to be applied back towards your credit card.

So, it’s always a good idea to bring extra money and not to depend on that deposit money that you paid in advance. Also, most trips require you to book 30-90 days in advance. It all depends on where your going, the time of year, and local weather. Sometimes you will be surprised if you check with online booking sites that you will get a better deal that will include airfare. The thing that they don’t tell you is that you are required to use that airline, but it doesn’t mean you have to stay at the only hotels that the booking sites say are availble.

You can find better deals on hotels closer to the beach, casino’s, or nearest attraction’s at the location you choose. Also, keep in mind of any passport & non-passport countries you goto because some do require Visa’s also. It would be a bad trip if you went to a country that you couldn’t enter at all, and that would be money down the drain. Lastly, if your going out of the country it’s best to check the exchange rate before & after you make that currency transition. You would hate to see that your $1000 USD that was exchanged for Euros went down in value of 3/4’s or less. So always do your homework on where your going to have the best of fun!!!
