Leaf vegetables are high in nutrients, and yet they are low in calories. This makes them the ideal food to eat lots of, especially if you are trying to lose weight. But not only will they help you to lose weight, but you will also be able to avoid many other degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Low in Calories

We all know that calories amount to pounds if we do not burn them. Depending on what kind of diet you are on, this can result in long strenuous hours at the gym. However, when you add leaf vegetables to your diet, you can cut this time in half, as they can give you all the nutrients that you need, but without the calories. This is why they are a must if you are trying to lose weight safely.

High in Fiber

In order for you to lose excess weight, you have to get your bowels moving, and there is nothing like the fiber that is found in leaf vegetables to help those bowels eliminate. Not only will your bowels be more regular, but your whole digestive system will be cleaned out.

But your body does not stop there. If you continue to feed it the foods that it needs and avoid the foods that it doesn’t need, then it will begin the cleansing process at the next level. This is at the cellular level, and it means that if you are suffering from cellulite that it will begin to disappear. However, in order to make the most out of it, do not just rely on the veggies, but engage yourself in moderate exercises including both cardio and strength training.

Reduce Stress

Weight gain is often the result of either physical or mental stress. Leaf vegetables contain powerful ingredients that can help you to relax naturally, and stabilize your mood swings. This in turn reduces your food cravings, thus allowing you to eat less, so that you can lose more weight.

How to Consume Leaf Vegetables

Leaf vegetables are best when eaten raw, as they still contain all the live enzymes that your body needs. They are great in green smoothies, however if you cannot down a green smoothie, then you can mix them in with your fruit smoothies.

Greens are also very good in raw salads. You can use any kind of dressing on them that you like, as long as you do not soak them in it. However, you should try a light dressing, or even just go with olive oil, fresh lemon juice and a dash of sea salt. Before you know it, you will love leaf vegetables more than any other foods as you will be able to lose all unwanted weight and keep it off.
