Best Search Engine

The best search engine is quite subjective.  There are a lot of search engines out there & it can be difficult to choose which one is right for you.  Here is a comparison of the major search engines so you can figure out which one is the best search engine.

Google seems to be one of the most popular sites on the entire internet.  It has a small box where you can input your search query.  The main page isn’t cluttered with a lot of ads or news like most of the other search sites.  Most website owners focus on getting their sites listed in the top google rankings. Many people would argue that it is the best search engine out there.  If you like a more streamlined search, google is the way to go.

MSN & Yahoo are very similar in layout.  If you visit their homepages you will see lots of different features.  They include areas for news, entertainment, weather, sports & the top searches.  This might be the best search engine for you if you aren’t really sure what you are looking for on the net & you have a lot of time to browse around.

Ask.com has gone through many stages.  It used to be considered one of the best search engines before google came out.  It also used to be known as Ask Jeeves where you could type in a how, where, what why or who question instead of just searching for a popular term.  Now, ask.com just comes up with results that can be a little confusing.

ChaCha & Mahalo both bill themselves as human powered search engines.  This works well if you can’t find exactly what you are looking for. Mahalo has their search results compiled by humans.  ChaCha on the other hand has a guide assigned to you where you can tell them what you are looking for & it’s also a free service.  This can take more time than a regular search engine.

Whatever you deem to be the best search engine, set it as your homepage so you always have your preference at hand.  If you use firefox you can even change the search box in the upper right hand corner to your favorite.
