Offers Consumers Both Blu-ray and DVD Discs in a Single Package!

Remember a few years back when you had to throw out your old collection of videos and had to ditch your VHS player and go out and buy a new DVD player? With the Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) cost-effective Blu-ray + DVD Combo Packs (Blu-ray + DVD in a single package), you won’t have to ditch that new DVD player for a long time!

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) is offering its customers quality, long-term value when they purchase the new Blu-ray + DVD Combo Packs. WDSHE, a division of The Walt Disney Studios, is the marketing, sales and distribution company for Walt Disney, Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures, Miramax and Buena Vista product which includes DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and electronic distribution.

As more and more families make the move to high definition, Disney is announcing the 2009 release of a new catalogue of Disney Combo Packs which are Disney theatrical and Platinum movies that will release on Blu-ray between February and October of 2009. Some of the upcoming Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack movies will include the teen hit High School Musical 3: Senior Year (February 17), Walt Disney’s animated classic Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition (March 10) and other movies leading up to the much-anticipated release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition in October.

WDSHE first introduced the Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack across limited markets in 2008 with the release of Sleeping Beauty’s 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition. Combining the feature film on standard definition DVD and Blu-Ray allows consumers currently without Blu-ray players to “future proof” their collections. This is a fabulous idea for consumers!

In addition, WDSHE North America will be packaging 14 of its newest Blu-ray titles for release in the U.S. and Canada with a DisneyFile digital copy of the movie for customers to enjoy anytime, anywhere on their Mac, PC, or compatible portable devices. However, in my case I was asked to sign up for iTunes service using my credit card to get my free copy of the Prince Caspian Collector’s Edition DVD, an offer I have not yet accepted as I hate giving out my credit card information to online companies. Digital copies will be made available in both iTunes and Windows Media file formats and are scheduled to be included with: High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Monsters Inc., and A Bugs Life.

If you are one of the many consumers who has not forked over several hundred dollars to get a Blu-Ray player, these Disney Blu-ray + DVD combo packs sound like an excellent way to extend the life of your movie purchases as DVDs looks like they will probably make the transition into Blu-Ray in the not-too-distant future.
