First, and foremost you must truly thing what your websites purpose will be. It can be for blogging, business, social networking, etc.
Once step 2 is finished a web address, or domain name, (www.example.com) must be thought of. I suggest making a list of many names you could consider because many names you thought may never be taken probably are and some you thought would surely be taken sometimes aren’t. You can search for the availability of a domain name by simply going on a hosting site such as http://www.godaddy.com, entering the domain name in the search box, and then check the availability. This step can sometimes be very frustrating.
Now it is time to decide how you want to build your site. You can either pay for a professional to do it which I do not prefer for anybody because this can be quite costly, unless you do not mind spending the money. Most hosting websites offer a basic website building package which is a great way to get a feel for how to build a website. I find learning how to build a website priceless because it saves you a lot of money.
Be patient when building a website. If you attempt to build one extremely fast I guarantee you will find that there are many errors dealing with a number of aspects of your site. Also, when linking whatever the object may be, make sure always to double check because you would not want a bad link to ruin a sale for you now would you or ruin any online visitors experience for you.
- Having a popular keyword in your domain name is highly recommended because it is basically a free way of advertising your website. You can search for what keywords are popular by using the Google Sandbox Tool. It is recommended that you use a keyword with a bar that is 25% full or less. The more full the bar is the more competition the keyword is facing which means more of a struggle for you to establish your own online presence.
- Building a website is just like learning how to ride a bike. At first it may be quite frustrating and seemingly impossible, but once learned it is never a problem again.
- Don’t settle for just one hosting site’s prices. Some may be more expensive than others so make sure to compare the prices to get the best deal possible. I have made domain name purchases that are only $7.00 for a whole YEAR now that is a STEAL! The great thing about owning a website is how cheap it is, but how much money can really be made.
- Many hosting websites try to add “special offers” and other packages without you knowing so when purchasing your domain name make sure that all boxes that you want to be checked are, otherwise you could be getting charged for something you had no idea you agreed to. I personally always double check to make sure.
