W8Ing For Marriage – The Physical Benefits

When one enters into a sexual relationship, regardless of how it might be defined (oral sex constitutes a sexual relationship), there are certain responsibilities that one must not only acknowledge, but be prepared to deal with.  Sex is an incredible aspect of one’s life, but also a decision that when made, will forever change nearly every other area of your life.  Let’s face it, life is going to throw many difficulties at us as we move through our daily lives; why would we want to do anything that would include becoming our own worst enemy?  In many ways, that’s exactly what we do when we choose to move forward in a sexual relationship before we’re ready.  Hopefully, you’re idea of “being ready” will include that magical walk down the aisle.  This is where The Quiet Witness can hopefully make a difference in your life.

But what happens when one’s idea of “happily ever after” is only as far as the weekend?  There are repercussions – physical repercussions – that can sometimes result when we make less than ideal decisions about our sexual health.  The Quiet Witness has put some of those statistics together below.  These are courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control unless otherwise noted.

·       In 2005, 40.5 live births out of every one thousand women were to single teens.  In 2006, that number rose to 41.9 and in 2007, which are the most current numbers, it rose again to 42.5 per one thousand births.

·       34% of girls will become pregnant at least once before the age of twenty.

·       There are almost ten million new sexually transmitted diseases diagnosed in young adults between the ages of 15 and 24.

·       58% of young adults believe it is not acceptablefor unmarried teens to have sex.

·       87% of teens surveyed believe their peers should not be ashamedof their virginity.

These are some powerful statistics and even though there aren’t marked improvements in teen pregnancy yet, there does exist the very real probability that the tides are shifting and teens are beginning to realize abstinence allows them to focus on other important aspects of their lives.  When a young adult is not overwhelmed with fears over their sexual contact the night before, they’re free to enjoy every other aspect of this important time in life.  They know the only 100% way to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy is to abstain from intimacy.

There is one more statistic that’s rather startling: 79% of all young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 admit to wishing they would have waited before having sex.

With the CDC reporting one in four sexually active teens and young adults will contract a STD, this puts in perspective another important reason for one to carefully consider whether the sacrifice is worth it.  There are many spiritual and psychological reasons for choose to refrain from sexual relations, and now you have the facts on some of the physical reasons for “w8ing”.  With so much to look forward to as you continue to grow into an adult, the added burden of what a sexual relationship can sometimes be is one of those things you can avoid.  If you have any questions or would like further information, please visit TheQuietWitness.com today.  We stand ready to help you direct your own destiny of all the good this life has to offer.
