First, be realistic about how much weight loss you want. Are you really wanting to be ripped? Or are you just wanting to get to a health weight? I would say that you should make your weight loss goal to be healthy. That should be your weight loss goal for now. After you reach your weight lose goal if you decide that you want to lose even more weight then great. But even some weight loss will have a great benefit to your health.
Don’t keep junk food in house. That means no cookies, no chips, and no ice cream or anything else that will stop your weight loss. Maybe you are different than me, but I don’t have the willpower to have that stuff in the house and not eat it. Willpower is overrated. To me this should be one of the most important things to remember in your desire for weight loss. Can you buy a box of cookies and only eat one or two and save the rest for later? Or are you more like me and eat the entire box? That is why I don’t keep junk food in the house. This alone will help your weight loss.
Exercise is required for any real long term weight loss. You don’t have to go to the gym everyday and workout like crazy. But you must do something to raise your heart rate for at least 20 minutes everyday if you are serious about weight loss. That could be as simple as walking with your spouse, which is a good way to spend some time together. You could also just go outside and play with the kids for 20 minutes. The point is you have to do something to activate your weight loss. Find an activity that you enjoy and do it. Find a lot of different things so you don’t get bored. Boredom is an enemy of weight loss. Some things have to be inside for when the weather is bad. What you do isn’t important. What is important is that you do something to help move you along on your weight loss goal.
If you really want to eat something that you know is bad for you go ahead and do it, just don’t do it very often. Once in a while isn’t going to completely stop your weight loss, just make sure you adjust your eating after that to lower your calorie intake. If you have some pizza today, make sure that tomorrow you are not eating as much as usual to make up for it. Also, don’t pig out. Have a taste, a slice or two. Get the taste and be satisfied. Stay focused on your weight loss goals. You are only cheating you and your weight loss when you sneak food.
Buy new clothing when you have some weight loss. Get rid of your fat clothing. If you keep them around and start to put some weight back on you will just start wearing them again. If you get rid of them then you would have to buy more clothes. Don’t do it. Don’t ever buy clothing that is bigger. If your clothes are getting to tight, look at what you are eating and doing. That is a sign that you need to cut back on the calories and get back to some weight loss activities.
Follow these simple step and weight loss is possible and not that hard. But remember, you didn’t get fat overnight and weight loss will not be overnight. It takes time. But remember, it isn’t rocket science, it is just weight loss.
