According to the LA Times, Christian Bale was caught in the middle of an intense scene swearing continuously at director of photography Shane Hurlbert on the set of “Terminator: Salvation.” The verbal drama was recorded and you can hear the entire conversation on audio. Christian Bale is a very dedicated actor according to his colleagues. He would get really angry if you interrupt him like at the set of Terminator.
He was just ticked off because he was interrupted in the middle of a very intense scene and had to redo a part of it and he didn’t want to jump in and out of his character. He wanted to get the act done and that’s what got him angry. Someone did come to his defend and that is Bruce Franklin, an assistant director and associate producer on the Terminator.
Bruce told ENews that ” Bale was not off-base in his reaction to Hurlbut’s intrusion into the scene. If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove … it was the most emotional scene in the movie,” “And for him to get stopped in the middle of it. He is very intensely involved in his character. He didn’t walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed.” Franklin had work in two movies with Christian Bale.
Franklin also said ” He is so dedicated to the craft,” “I think someone is begging to make some noise about this, but I don’t think it’s fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it’s an art form. ” Christian Bale was threatening to quit the set unless they fire Shane Hurlbut. You can listen to the audio recording at www.eonline.com.
