Best Romance Anime

If you’re a fan of romance anime, you probably saw a few of them already. If you’re new to anime but love romance then you really should check these out. People should note that a list like this is always based on opinions, so maybe your favorites are different.

5. Air
“Yukito Kunisaki is on a journey. She is seeking a girl with wings who flies in the sky, just like she heard in a childhood tale. During this journey, he settles down in a small town, where he tries to  make himself some money. There, he meets a girl named Misuzu. Misuzu who quickly makes Yukito her friend and invites him to stay with her. He decides to stay in the small town, while continuingsearching for the winged girl.”

Air, produced by Kyotoanimation, a well known animation studio. They did a pretty good job with Air. First the story. It has only 1 storyline with a subplot. They do a good job on managing both. The story has some mystery, enough at least. It can really get pretty sad at some times so the emotion is pretty good too.

4. NANA
“Komatsu Nana moves to Tokyo, just like her boyfriend, to realize the live she always dreamt of. On a train bound for Tokyo, she meets Osaki Nana, the vocalist for the punk rock band “Blast”, who is trying to do the same. Because they share the same name, they become friends in Tokyo, where together they support each other through each of their love lives and careers.

NANA is a pretty long anime with it’s 47 episodes. It is however worth it.
NANA has an  unique art style, that art style is pretty good actually. I personally would have preferred another art style.  The music in NANA is absolutely superb. Much better than the average your  album that is produced.  Also NANA’s cast is great. You will fall in love with nearly every character that will be introduced which is great.

3. Toradora!
“It’s a new school year and Ryuuji Takasu isn’t only in the same class as his best friend, but also in the same class as the girl he as had a crush on since for quite a while now. But they aren’t his only classmate’s there is also Taiga the palmtop tiger, who has a crush on Kitamura, Ryuuji’s best friend. When they find out each others’ secret, they decide to help each other.”

Toradora’s art is pretty standart, nothing special, but not bad by any means. The comedy in this series is great, and it is often present. The opening songs are really catchy, the show has ended a long time ago but I still regularly find myself unable to get that song out of my head. The characters are pretty good. The main girls are totally different from each other which is nice. There were a few episodes near the end that were a little weird for me though.

2. Clannad
“Tomoya is a student who is labeled a delinquent. One day when he walks to shool he meets a girl Nagisa.”

Kind of a short synopsis, I reckon.
Clannad has a pretty standard storyline which is by no means bad. There also is a subplot which gets surprisingly important in the sequel. The art is pretty good, but if you’re not a fan of the eyes it might get a little annoying. I didn’t find the music really good or bad it’s ok. The music is the only thing that isn’t really great. The characters are good, so are the romance and comedy elements.

1. Kanon 2006
“When Aizawa Yuuichi was younger,  he often visited his cousin in the city. However, something bad happened and that kept him away for 7 years. Now, after 7 years, he finally returns but doesn’t remember anything about what took place 7 years ago.”

Kanon 2006 is a remake of the original Kanon. This is double as long and thus had more depth to it. The story is divided in different mini-stories, they are done well. The only thing that is lacking in the story is that some characters get less time than some fans wanted them to have. The music is good and so are the characters.
