Vista automatically launches some services at startup that can hog memory and processor time. It is easy to turn these off without endangering your pc.

Click Start then Control Panel
Select Administrative Tools
Choose System Configuration
Click the Services Tab

You can safely deselect:
Offline Files
Tablet PC Input Service
Terminal Services
Windows Search

This procedure is one step in a strategy to improve Vista performance. Check out my other articles for more steps to take.
