How to Turn Off Vista User Account Control

User Account Control or UAC is a new feature in Vista that asks for permission to do system software tasks. This feature can be extremely frustrating since you have to constantly click ok on pop up windows in order to perform any task. To disable it, follow these steps:

Click on Start
Click on Control Panel
Click on System and Maintenance
Click on Administrative Tools
Click on the System Configuration button
Click on the Continue button, if UAC is active
Click on the Tools Tab
Click on “Disable UAC”
Click on the Launch button
Click on the Ok button to close the panel

You will have to reboot for the setting to take effect.
