The 2010 World Cup Finals are about to kick off!

This summer promises to showcase some of the greatest football the world has ever seen. Having looked at the schedule for the 1st Round, these are my picks, based purely on entertainment value

Friday, June 11, 2010:

South Africa v Mexico (Group A)

Any home game involving South Africa will be an exiting affair as they go all out to prove to their country they are worthy Tournament hosts. This also is the opening game & Mexico, who generally play fast exciting football, will want to ensure that they win to progress to the 2nd Round

Saturday, June 12, 2010:

Argentina v Nigeria (Group B)

With Messi playing for Argentina all eys will be on this team as the one to beat. Nigeria, traditionally are a strong team who like using their muscle & pace, promises to be free flowing with skill & excitement aplenty

England v USA (Group C)

The history & passion here will make USA play is if they have 50 players on the pitch. How will England cope, promises to be a good one

Brazil v North Korea (Group G)

Brazil, always the tournaments favourites will want to win this but North Korea will not want to disappoint. I can see incidents galore in this with maybe a possible upset!!!!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010:

Honduras v Chile (Group H)

Two South American Countries, hot blooded, passionate & fast, looks like a potential time bomb

South Africa v Uruguay (Group A)

Again the home team will need to put on a tremendous display against a team that are always capable of beating the worlds best on their day. This has the makings of a fast game with plenty of goal mouth action

Saturday, June 19, 2010:

Ghana v Australia (Group D)

Both like to play attacking football. I envisage a lot of space across the field. This should be a good one

Sunday, June 20, 2010:

Brazil v Ivory Coast (Group G)

Brazil & Kaka against Drogba of the Ivory Coast. Every game in this group has been picked, not called the Group of Death for nothing

Monday, June 21, 2010:

Portugal v North Korea (Group G)

Another game from the group of death. North Korea do not want to be the whipping boys and will fight hard for points. Portugal can, at times, be their own worst enemy. Again North Korea could provide an upset

Spain v Honduras (Group H)

Spain are the European Champions and have some wonderful players. Honduras play similar fast, attacking football, this should be a good game

Tuesday, June 22, 2010:

Mexico v Uruguay (Group A)

Flash points a plenty here, coupled with goals. Open, free flowing football on the menu for this one

Nigeria v S Korea (Group B)

South Korea love their football & so do Nigeria. I just feel this will be a fast end to end game

Greece v Argentina (Group B)

Greece are always capable of an upset, &  this being the final Group B game of the 1st round they will wanting to be showing Argentina that they can play. Messi however always has something extra to give, so should make for an entertaining game

Wednesday, June 23, 2010:

Algeria v United States (Group C)

I reckon this one will have goals a plenty. Both will view thus game as points need to progress and thus leave plenty of open space across the pitch

Ghana v Germany (Group D)

Ghana will use their muscle  speed to outwit the cool, defensive minds of the Germans that can spring a few surprises of their own. An interesting one to watch

Thursday, June 24, 2010:

Paraguay v New Zealand (Group F)

Fast & free flowing, plenty of spaces & lots of goals.

Friday, June 25, 2010:

North Korea v Ivory Coast (Group G)

The group of death sees a must win game for anyone of these two sides, kicking off at the same time as the other two teams in the Group hoping to go through

Portugal v Brazil (Group G)

As with North Korea & Ivory Coast, this should be a pulsating game, team mates Kaka & Ronaldo against each other with the possibility of knocking each other out in the first round

Chile v Spain (Group H)

Just an exciting, fast, skilful game with plenty of goal mouth action

Every tournament always throws out a team that captures the publics imagination & I believe that this year it will either be one from the African Nations or one of the Korean teams, & if I am right, damn, why didn’t I put any money on it!!
