How to Verify a Proxy Server Setting

If you access the internet on a corporate lan or a campus lan, then you probably are reaching the internet via a proxy server. You will probably need to either add the proxy address or make changes to it someday. So here is how to do it….

For Windows, open your Internet Explorer browser. Look on the menu bar for Tools and click on it. Click on Internet Options, then click on Connections.

Now click on Lan Settings. You will see a box to enter a proxy address. You will need to get the correct address from someone else on the network or from your IT group. Check on the box to use the automatic connection script and then you can enter the proxy address. The address will look similar to this in format:
http://proxy.abc.ehow.net/proxy.pac
Save a copy of the proxy address somewhere in your documents so you can easily find it if you ever need to enter it again.
