We all have seen the rise in malware, spyware and other unwanted internet threats. Why are they here, why are they profitable? In this article I’m going to tell you why.

Organized crime syndicates hijack computers, to use in an denial of service attack. They often threaten with it, blackmailing money. On the infected computers, they can also run clickfraud campaigns. They will get a advertiser that pays, for example 0.3$ per click. If you have tens of thousands infected machine, you can see the money add up. These ‘companies’ often pay other people to infect machines for them. The people spreading will most likely be caught and the biggest problem will remain. This is due the fact that some countries, simply don’t enforce internet laws to deal with this growing problem.

Another way they can make money, is by stealing information. Keyloggers see everything you type, sniffers capture data from hacked wireless networks. With the information they capture they can apply for loans on other peoples names, that they obiously will not pay back. They can also checkout your creditcard until the limit has been reached. Your problems are greater then some lost money. A negative creditrate will haunt you for the rest of your life. Sometimes they commit crimes and when they are orderd to cout, you will need to go, because they have been using your identity
