A leg of mutton with the cauliflower salad

This recipe serves 5-6. The time for preparation is about an hour and 10 minutes.


1 leg of mutton about 1.5 kg

1 onion

2 carrots


5-6 black pepper

1 bay leaf

Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

The vegetables, washed meat and seasonings have to be put into the sauce pan full in 5 glasses of hot water. Boil 50-60 minutes. When it is ready you can serve it cut into slices, sprinkle some herbs, black pepper powder and 1-2 pinch of red pepper. If you want you can place some butter on the slices of meat and put it into the baking pan. Bake in hot oven for 5-10 minutes. Serve with cauliflower salad or other kind of salad.

Ingredients for the cauliflower salad:

1 head of cauliflower

2 potatoes

2 carrots

2 sour gherkins

125 gr mayonnaise

Lemon juice

Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

Boil the peeled potatoes, the carrots and the cauliflower into the salted water. Cut into cubes the potatoes, the carrots and the sour gherkins. Cut the cauliflower into small pieces like ”small roses”. Salt to taste, pour some lemon juice and add the mayonnaise. Stir well and after 30 minutes you can serve any meat with this wonderful salad.

What to do with the water where the vegetables were boiled?! Of course, you can use it for preparing soup. What kind of soup? Put 3-4 pieces of meat, add some parsley and celery. Mix one egg and 1 table spoon yoghurt. Put it into the soup. Enjoy!
