Soften a cup (2 sticks) of butter or good-quality margarine. Cream in 1 1/2 cups of light brown (golden) sugar. Add two eggs and beat ’til smooth. Add 1/4 tsp. baking soda, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 – 2 tsp. cinnamon and mix well. Stir in 1/2 cup milk. Beat in 1 3/4 cups flour, then 3 cups regular oatmeal (not quick-cooking). Finally, stir in a cup of raisins really well, so they’re mixed evenly throughout. You can put more in if you like a lot of raisins.
Spoon tablespoon-size blobs onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for approx. 10 minutes. If you have a tricky oven, check their bottoms after 8 minutes to be sure they’re not getting too dark. You can also bake for 12 minutes at 325 for a softer cookie.
Eat while still slightly warm for maximum pleasure. Have lots of milk on hand!
