Your adorable little doggie deserves some healthy homemade treats for his snacks. These are made with ingredients you have in your kitchen. When you stir these up and bake them, your little family friend will know they were made with a pinch of love too.  Have fun and Happy Wagging! If your friend’s and family have pets, make these for Christmas gifts from your Bowser to theirs!

In a large mixing bowl, stir together with whisk, 1 C whole wheat flour, 1/2 C soy flour, and 2/3 C white or yellow cornmeal, 1 1/8 t. baking powder, 1/2 t. sugar, and 1/2 t. sea salt.

Add 1 C natural type peanut butter and 3/4 C milk. Stir with wooden spoon until well combined and into a dough ball.

Place dough ball on lightly floured surface and knead.  Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick.  Cut into shapes with bone, round, and heart-shaped cookie cutters.

Place the doggie cookies 1-inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Lightly press tines of fork in to prevent air bubbles.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.  Let cool completely before letting doggie have one.  Makes approximately 36 treats, depending on size of cookie cutters.

TIP #1:  If you want to give these as a gift in a jar, pour the dry ingredients into a pint sized mason canning jar and attach a gift tag shaped like a bone with the instructions of adding the peanut butter and milk etc. Include the kneading, rolling, and baking instructions too.

TIP #2:  Another idea is to bake the doggie treats and put them in a quart-sized mason canning jar with a gift tag from your pet to theirs.

TIP #3: A gift idea is also to use larger bone-shaped cookie cutters and when baked, stack the treats and tie with raffia and a gift tag.

TIP #4: Make these homemade healthy doggie treats and sell them. Be sure to include a list of the ingredients (not amounts) on the label.

Don’t worry if your children accidentally get into these, there’s nothing harmful in them!
