Are People Getting Careless? Product Warning Labels and Traffic Signs

Ever since the  McDonald’s Corporation had to print “Warning: Contents may be HOT” on their coffee cups, manufactures have been putting warning labels on their products in order to protect themselves from lawsuits filed by the idiot consumer. This article is a posting of several warning labels and caution notices that can be found on products throughout the world.

Warnings to protect our children (and us) from our selves…

“Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.” Found on child-size Superman ™  Halloween costume.

“Warning: Cape does not enable user to fly.” Found on my son’s Batman™  costume last Halloween.

“You can not save the world!” Found on Power Puff Girls™  Halloween costume. (This is not so much a warning as a forecast.)

“Safe to use around pets and children, although it is not recommended that either be permitted to drink from toilet.” Found on the package for Bowl Fresh® toilet freshener.

“This bag is not a toy.” Found on every plastic bag in the United States.

“Warning: May contain traces of nuts.” Found on Hershey’s® Almond Bar package.

Warnings to remind us what the product should and should not be used for…

“Do not eat package.” Found on Hormel Pepperoni package.

“Warning: Do not reuse the bottle to store beverages.” Found on a bottle for Liquid Plummer®.

“Do not use while sleeping.” Found on a tag on my hair dryer cord.

“Caution: Do not use near power lines.” Found on toilet plunger tag.

“It is not suitable for driving under conditions of poor light.” Found on Ray-Ban® Sunglasses.

“This product not intended for use as a dental drill.” Found on a Dremel®  Electric Rotary Tool package insert.

“Do not attempt to stop chain with hands.” Found on a warning label for Jonreds ® Chainsaw.

“Before installing this fan belt, be sure to shut off the engine as it may cause irreversible injury.” Found on package for a car engine fan belt.

Warnings found along the roadway…

“Caution: Road may be slippery when wet.” Yellow caution sign found along the freeway.

“Caution: Water on Road During Rain.” Yellow caution sign found along the freeway.

“Do not pass while opposing traffic present.” Yellow caution sign found along the freeway.

“Caution: Cross only when cars stop.” Found near an intersection and cross walk.

“Do not drive with sunshield in place.” Found on the cardboard sunshield in my car.

And finally, warnings to state the obvious…

“Do not spray in eyes.” Found on Windex® window cleaner label.

“Safe to use around pets.” Found on a package of Arm&Hammer® Scoopable Cat Litter.

“Avoid getting into eyes.” Found on a bottle of Aussie® Mega Shampoo.

“Not dishwasher safe.” Found on a RCA® Television Remote Control.

“Warning: May cause Drowsiness.” Found on a package for sleeping pills.

“Some assembly required.” Found on a box for a 500 piece puzzle.
