Planning a Low Budget Wedding

Weddings are one of the most memorable days of our lives – partly because of how expensive they are!  Add up the costs of the wedding dress, groom’s suit, bridesmaid’s dresses, flowers, cake, reception etc and you have a total that will make your eyes bulge out of their sockets.

In today’s economic situation, planning a wedding according to a budget can seem a little tricky but there are simple ways to cut your costs down.

Dress:

One of the most important aspects of any bride’s wedding day is her dress. Most women will dream about that white flowing dress that makes them feel like a princess in a fairytale. Again, they can be very expensive. To cut down on the thousands that they cost, why not search online for a cheaper alternative to the designer dress you desire? There are online stores that sell nearly-new dresses as well which could be a practical alternative. EBay is another good place to buy a wedding dress.

Bridesmaids Dresses and Page Boys:

Take a trip into your local city or town centre and go shopping. In the UK, places such as Debenhams or New Look have children’s’ sections. Browse through the reduced rail and you are sure to find a perfect outfit for your attendants.

Flowers:

Flowers can be very expensive; your bouquet itself can cost upwards of £75. A cheaper alternative is to use silk flowers. These look just as nice as the real thing and won’t be destroyed if one of your little page boys’ accidently sits on them! To get a really nice smell, add a couple of drops of your favourite essential oils onto the petals. You can buy discounted silk flowers online from any number of shops.

Cake:

Cakes cost an arm and a leg; why not have ask a friend who is very good at baking to create your cake for you? If you are having a small reception, why not go into a supermarket and buy a cake that has already been baked and iced? You can then add some ribbons and flowers and jewelled branches to make it look really great.

Invitations:

Again, this is another unnecessary expense. Printed invitations can look really great but you can cut costs by using pre-printed wedding invitations you can get from anywhere in town. If you really want printed wedding invitations, search online and see what companies can offer you a discount.
