Are you going to quit smoking? Lose weight? Get out of debt? New Year’s resolutions are easy to make and hard to keep. Make It Happen! is an iPod Touch application that helps you keep track of your New Year’s resolutions and goals. This helps to keep you motivated and on task throughout the year.

Make It Happen! gives you the option of creating a ‘normal goal’ or a ‘number based goal’. A normal goal would be something such as write a novel. A number based goal would be like writing 5 associated content articles a week. You can create several goals and categorize them. There are pre-filled categories or you can create your own. This is useful if you have more than one resolution such as a personal resolution (write articles), a financial resolution (get out of debt), and a health resolution (lose weight). Make It Happen! will track all of them for you.

Once you have made your goal choice, you will get a goal detail screen. This screen is where you set your deadline date and add progress reports and milestones. As you progress along completing your goal you would enter them in these two categories. For example if your goal is to write a novel you could enter your chapters, outlines or character description progress or milestones here. Make It Happen! progress records are a good way to stay on task towards achieving your New Year’s resolution.

Once your goal is entered you will go to the main screen. This is the screen you will get when you launch the program and where you enter your progress. This screen is a visual representation of all your Make It Happen! resolutions. It will show your current progress and your due date. From here, click on the goal and it will take you back into the goal detail screen. Slide the progress bar to the left to log your current progress. Enter your progress reports and milestones. If you happen to fail to meet a deadline, the date will turn red on the main screen. This is to alert you that you are falling behind on your goal. You can also click the “show complete” button to view all the goals you have completed.

Final verdict for Make It Happen! for the iPod Touch: It’s a good application. It does what it says it will. It keeps track of multiple goals and helps to keep you on task. The icon for the application says “2010” however I believe this is an application you will use in 2011, 2012, etc.
