Bad Breath is a very common problem and some people try a lot of things to get rid of rid without being successful and that is because they are failing to do what is really necessary. Bad breath can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing but here are a few tips to help you prevent your problem.

Visit Your Dentist Regularly

Regular checkups and cleanings are the best way to help you make sure that you are actually giving your mouth good oral hygiene.

Brushing Your Teeth

Whether you are in a hurry or not you should always find time to brush your teeth at least twice a day. It is recommended to brush your teeth in the morning and right before you go to sleep. There are several helpful sites on the Internet that show you how to properly brush your teeth.

Mouth Rinse

Mouth rinse will only hide your bad breath for a while and it will not cure it but still it is recommended to use it. The best ones are the anti-microbial ones and you can ask your dentist for the best one.

Flossing

Flossing once daily, preferably before you go to sleep will help to remove debris from in between the teeth and other places where a toothbrush can’t reach.

Brush Your Tongue

Keep Your Mouth Hydrated

Some people suffer from what is called dry mouth. If that is the case talk to your dentist and he/she will recommend something that will serve as a saliva substitute. Drinking a lot of water will also help and so does sucking on some lozenges.

Avoid Smoking

Whether you smoke cigarettes or chew on tobacco you should stop instantly if you develop a bad breath problem. Talk to your doctor to help recommend some over the counter medicine to help you stop smoking. Tobacco usually tends to dry out your mouth and that will surely not help your bad breath problem.

Chew Herbs or Other Lozenges

Mint is said to really help bad breath problems. It will only mask your problem for a while but is very useful if you know that you are going to be close talking to people. But remember that it is only a temporarily problem. There are some other things that help like tarragon, eucalyptus and rosemary.

Berries and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C also helps in preventing gum disease and gingivitis which are both major causes of bad breath.
