Journaling 101: Making Your Journal Notebook Personal

The stores are full of beautiful blank books that you can use as your journal. But why buy a book when you can make your very own journal book and personalize it yourself? A journal is a very personal item. You record your hopes and dreams and fears in your journal. Go a step further and make your journal truly your very own!

Buy a 3-ring binder or a marbled composition notebook. I like using a 3-ring binder because I can add or delete pages whenever I want. It also allows room to insert photo pages and memorabilia.

Make separate journals for special occasions life travels, births, weddings, etc.

Personalize the journal by decorating the cover. You can go wild here and decorate the cover to suit your hopes and dreams for the year to come.

Divide your journal into sections by using dividers (for 3-ring binders) or colored tabs (for composition notebooks). Label these tabs with headings like dreams, memories, lists, prayers, poems, etc.

Paste a list of journal topics in the front of the book for those days when you are stuck for something to write about. You can find journal topics all over the place. Do a search engine search or find topics right here on this website!

Protect your journal by laminating the cover with a self-adhesive lamination kit. You can buy these at most office supply or drug stores. You simply peel the back off the lamination sheet and apply to your cover.

Making your own journal book can become very addictive!
