Delicious walnut cake is easy for preparation and it could be a good surprise for your friends and relatives during the party.
- 12 eggs
- 1 1/2 sugar
- 2 ½ cups (250 gr) chopped walnuts
- 1 cup (250 gr) flour
- 50 gr butter
- ½ cup (200 gr) grated lemon peel
- 1 dose butter cream
- ½ cup sugar or other syrup
- ¼ cup water
- 1 wine glass liqueur
- For the icing: cocoa fondan (500 gr sugar, 1 cup of water, 1 table spoon milk
- Chocolate pieces and halves of walnuts
- Whipped cream
- Ingredients for the butter cream:
- 75 gr butter
- 200 gr sugar powder
- 1 vanilla
- 1 grated lemon peel
- 2 table spoons cocoa
Method of preparation:
Prepare a mixture from half of the sugar and 9 egg yolks. Add the grated lemon peel and 1 ½ cup chopped walnuts. The 12 whites of the eggs should be beaten with another half of the sugar, flour and the melted butter. The so prepared dough should be placed in a baking pan with butter and sprinkled flour on it. Bake the dough carefully. In the beginning the oven should be warm, later hot. When the dough is baked and cool enough cut it horizontally into three equal parts. Pour the syrup mixed with the water and the liqueur.
Meanwhile your butter cream should be ready. It is prepared in the following way: the butter should be beaten with the sugar powder, cocoa, lemon peel and vanilla; add the three yolks, ½ cup walnuts and 1 tablespoon liqueur. This cream should be put between the cut pieces of the dough.
On the top is the icing which is prepared so: prepare from the sugar and water thick syrup, add the cocoa. Pour the syrup onto the dough, then pour the whipped cream and decorate with pieces of chocolate and halves of walnuts.
