Drink Water and Lose Weight

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. Drinking 8 or more glasses of water a daily is a key to heathy eating and a very important part of any successful diet. Drinking water helps you lose weight. Some experts say you should drink half of your weight in ounces (up to 100). For example if you weight 200 pounds you should drink 100 ounces or approximately 12 glasses. I say drink plenty of water every day for a healthy diet.

Water is necessary to flush waste from your system. Without adequate water you store waste in your intestines and this of course means more weight. It also means more disease and reduce mental capacity. Your body fights the negative effects of excess wastes versus cleansing and regenerating.

Drinking plenty of water every day helps to increase your metabolism. Water increases energy and your metabolism. Increased metabolism helps you burn calories. Water also adds no calories therefore you lose weight. It’s also important to remember that when the body is dehydrated, fat cells get “rubbery” and cannot be easily metabolized. This means that it’s harder to lose when you don’t drink your water.

As odd as it seems the more water you drink the less water your body retains. Think of a camel. Their body retains water because they do not drink water often. With man our body adjusts based on the amount of water we drink daily. So when you drink more water you lose water weight. If you no not drink plenty of water daily your body retains it and we gain water weight. Of course there are medical conditions where the body does differently.

Drink plenty of water each day instead of Soda Pop or commercial drinks. The sugars, coloring and artificial flavoring in commercial drinks dramatically adds calories and helps you gain weight. The sugar substitutes in diet pop and “juice drinks” are no better. Not only do they cause weight gain but there is an increased risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity because we consume so much processed and refined sugars.

Water also curbs hunger. Finally, the more water you drink the less food you eat. Many times when you feel hungry it is your body thirsting for water. Try drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before each meal. Also try to drink a glass of water whenever you are hungry. This should help you lose weight if you do not force yourself to eat when you are not hungry. Drinking water makes your diet easier. If you do not like the taste of plain water try adding a lemon or orange slice to it. Natural teas without sugar and cream are good as well as 100% fruit juice.
