CUT BACK ON THE CAFFEINE.
Gulping down lattes all day will not make you more productive. People who drink more than 3 cups of coffee a day (a cup is 8oz not 16 oz) have higher blood pressure and epinephrine levels. When you get stressed out, these symptoms will make you more anxious.
LEAVE WORK AT WORK.
It’s ok to bring reminders of family to work, not ok to bring work to family. Studies have shown that those who bring work into their home and personal lives are have more stress than those who have boundaries. Next time you have an itch to check your e-mail at home, pop in a movie instead and spend a calm night with your family. Also, when you’re at work, don’t stress about home responsibilities like grocery lists and laundry. Keep work and home separated in order to keep your head together.
CLOCK OUT ON TIME.
When you constantly put in extra hours, it later becomes a habit rather than a requirement. Spending too much time out with work buddies has the same effect. When you do occasionally go out with people from work, avoid talking about work.
Do onto others as you want done onto you. people who receive or witness compassion at work are less stressed. When you take the time to help others, it builds your self-esteem, makes you feel useful and resourceful. Plus your boss will see you as team player. Every little bit helps.
FIND A WORK BUDDY.
work seems less like work when you’re doing it with friends. So, put your pencils down and go talk to that new intern. You don’t have to be best-buds, even a nod will be beneficial to you.
KNOW YOUR CO-WORKERS.
Try to recognize your co-workers’ personalities. Unpredictable people cause stress onto others. When you don’t know how they will react, that raises your blood pressure. Try analyzing their pro’s and con’s, so you will know what to expect when you approach them.
SET TIME-OUT FOR YOURSELF.
Don’t wait until the weekends. Daily downtime will have more benefits rather than waiting a whole week for a day off. Even if it’s a walk around the park for lunch , make use of it. Take time to be silly, blow bubbles, call a friend, watch a cartoon. Whatever eases your mind, do it everyday.
