Eat Smarter Fast Food

Admittedly, the recent lifestyle of some people around the world is to rely on fast food for their lunch snacks, and dinner. It is easy to order and wait for the food in a few minutes. In fact, all of us succumb to the temptation of fast food from time to time. What is then the scare? The problem, as people know is that most fast food contains way too much fat and too many calories. For instance, along with a supersize fries having 610 calories and 29 grams of fat and a small Coke having 150 calories, a person already consumed more than his entire day’s fat allowance and almost his entire day’s calorie allowance in one meal. But wait! Don’t get me wrong. This does not mean that you must dramatically alter your lifestyle if fast food has become a way of life. There is just a need to eat smarter.

First, there is a need to plan your meals. There is food storage at home than can be transformed as a fast food menu. Next, opt for grilled chicken, but ask for the sauce to be served on the side. Third, if you are in the mood for a burger, then buy it. Just go for the plain one wherein there is no cheese and no sauce. A McDonald’s plain hamburger contains only 280 calories and ten grams of fat. Fourth, take advantage of the premade salads and salad bars of many fast food chains and grocery stores. But avoid the salad trap. Common salad toppings like bacon bits, grated cheese, croutons, and creamy dressings can add up to excessive calories. Finally, there is nothing wrong on asking questions before eating fast food. Many menu items may sound healthy but are not. For instance, one fast food chain’s garden burger is fried in oil and topped with mayonnaise. Always ask how the sandwich is cooked where grilled or fried and what type of sauce comes on the bun.
