People want to be protected from any form of disease. Happiness starts from having a healthy body and well-rounded personality. All these things can be achieved by eating the right foods and reaping the benefits within long fruitful years. Fruits and vegetables are considered as the healthiest foods on earth. They are naturally low in calories, fat, sodium, and high in heart-healing and disease-preventing nutrients called antioxidants. These nutrients originate their name from the fact that they decrease or eliminate damage caused by dangerous, out of-control oxygen molecules. These molecules are otherwise known as free radicals which might affect the immune system. Studies suggest that there is a significant relationship between free radical damage and coronary artery disease, different forms of cancer, premature aging, early onset of Parkinson’s disease, and eye problems such as cataracts.

While the body produces some natural antioxidants to fight free radicals, there is a need for us to eat additional antioxidants for optimal protection. Antioxidants present in fruits and vegetables increase protection from any form of cancer, strengthen defenses against heart disease, preserve eyesight through the prevention of cataracts, delay the onset of aging, develop a more powerful immune system, and decrease the risk of Parkinson’s disease. In connection, various fruits and vegetables are rich in other healing nutrients, such as potassium to fight high blood pressure, calcium to strengthen bones, and folate to prevent birth defects. Besides, fruits and vegetables are naturally high in fiber. Hence, a diet high in fruits and vegetables gives the perfect antidote to the current lifestyle of some people.
