Take responsibility for your life: Stop Waiting for Someone Else to Do It

  1. Change will only take place by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).
    1. Many people don’t accept the Word as truth; therefore they have no basis for real change.
    2. Don’t take facts as truth, only accept what the Word of God has said about your situation.
      1. Things that are seen are temporal; the Word is eternal.
    3. You must get your foundation right. Perversion is the result of not understanding the purpose and intent for something.
    4. If you don’t know the Word, you are always going to be susceptible to being led astray by facts that don’t line up with it.
  1. Review, practice and meditate.
    1. Practice thinking, reviewing and meditating on the new thoughts you’ve gotten from reading the Bible.
      1. For example, we all have challenges with getting the words we speak to line up with the Word. You have to meditate on what to say and not to say.
      2. Identify the changes you want to make in your life.
      3. Practice makes perfect. Keep reminding yourself of what you want to change. Say it out loud to yourself every day and repeat it until it becomes a part of you.
      4. Practice your new thoughts while doing your everyday activities.
      5. You will only see results when you take action. Review your notes and practice what you have learned.
      6. Most people know what they should be doing but simply won’t do it.
      7. The greatest tragedy that happens after every church service is when you fail to do what you have heard.
  1. Practicing and cultivating new ways of thinking will produce evidence for others to see (1Timothy 4:15, AMP).
    1. You have to meditate on the Word until you have the understanding you need to make your way prosperous (Joshua 1:8).
    2. Hell has no defense against a child of God who knows the Word and remains in faith.
    3. Reading, reviewing and cultivating the Word of God will help you understand who you are in Christ. You will fully understand the character of God and who you are according to His plan.

Don’t allow your emotions to be the basis of your change because they are unreliable. The Word of God must be your final authority.
