The playoffs are now over folks as the AFC and NFC Championship games are in the books and there is just one more game left to play…Super Bowl XLIV.

February 7, 2010 marks the date for the big game and Miami, FL marks the location. Those pieces of information have been known for qiute a while and all that was needed was the pieces for this huge game of chess. Four teams remained when play began early this afternoon and it would be up to them who wanted it most.

The first game of the day was the AFC Championship game and it matched up the Indianapolis Colts facing off against the upstart and surprising New York Jets. Rookie Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan’s Jets got off to a fast start at Lucas Oil Stadium as they jumped out to a shocking 17-6 lead. The dominating defense was all over Joseph Addai and the Colts causing turnovers and then having the offense convert them into scores for an eventual 17-13 halftime lead. Come the second half though, there would be a different story. Peyton Manning stepped in and took over the game leading the Colts up and down the field before taking the victory 30-17. New York gave a valiant effort, but it just wasn’t enough as the Colts woke up and Jets’ kicker Jay Feely converted only 1 of 3 field goals which hurt leaving points on the field.

Game number two pitted the Minnesota Vikings against the New Orleans Saints in the Louisiana Superdome for the NFC Championship Game. AND THE SAINTS HAVE WON!!!! More to come later this week and next as the Saints are accepting the NFC George Halas Trophy….the Saints have won 31-28 in overtime.  OH MY GOD!

Last Week: 2-0
